# WDYM INTRODUCTION

**Understanding WDYM: An on-chain social layer3 on Base chain**

WDYM is a fully on-chain social layer3 on Base chain built to empower everyone to run a node, earn network incentives, and engage in decision-making processes.

#### Ethereum L3 <a href="#ethereum-l2" id="ethereum-l2"></a>

WDYM has been developed as an Ethereum Layer 3 solution, offering the security, stability, and scalability required to support your on-chain applications. Deploy any Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) codebase with confidence, and seamlessly onboard your users and assets from Ethereum Layer 1 and other compatible chains.

#### Open source <a href="#open-source" id="open-source"></a>

WDYM is built on the MIT-licensed [OP Stack](https://stack.optimism.io/), in closely with Optimism. We’re closely with the Core Dev team working on the OP Stack.

Here's what sets WDYM apart with WDYM.WTF:

<https://wdym.wtf/> is a main Dapp of WDYM network, we provide:

1. **Token Rewards**: Share brilliant content, be it your original creation or something you discovered, and get rewarded. WDYM has its own token system that motivates users just like a game.
2. **More Than Social Gestures**: Following or unfollowing someone isn’t merely symbolic here. If you're a content creator, you get a fee each time someone hits follow or unfollow on your profile. It's WDYM's way of appreciating and valuing the contribution of content creators.
